iTunes has released its list of the Best Gospel Songs of 2008, and “Daily I Shall Worship Thee,” from the UAB Gospel Choir’s “Gospel 101: Go Dominate!” CD/DVD set, is track No. 13 on the service’s compilation set.

Instructor Kevin Turner says inclusion on this prestigious list says much about the level of talent that UAB has attracted to its campus.

“Students in the UAB Gospel Choir have met the challenge of performing at the level of music industry professionals,” he said. “We are listed next to heavyweights in the gospel industry such as Hezekiah Walker, Kurt Carr, Kirk Franklin, Tye Tribett, Martha Minizzi and Dorinda Clark-Cole, who have the backings of record companies and veteran producers.”

“Gospel 101: Go Dominate!” also excelled on XM Radio, where the track “After You’ve Prayed About It” was No. 2 for several weeks and remains in heavy rotation in several markets.

The UAB Gospel Choir is a music performance class offered for academic credit (one hour repeatable). It performs traditional and contemporary American gospel music and presents innovative programs and concerts on and off campus. Its recordings are available on campus at Barnes & Noble at UAB and online at cdbaby.com, iTunes, Rhapsody and Amazon.com.
