  • Office of Research Consultation
    The RDO assists faculty at the earliest stages of idea development who are pursuing large interdisciplinary research initiatives, including the preparation of grants that involving multiple schools, departments, divisions, or centers to support new research programs at UAB. The RDO can help facilitate idea development sessions, identify potential UAB-based collaborators who may add complementary expertise to the project, or connect researchers with external resources to further refine their research ideas.   • TIG – The Implementation Group
    The RDO maintains a partnership with TIG, a research development firm specializing in strategic positioning, proposal review and development, and team science. Idea development services include project conceptualization and positioning, merit assessment, and partnership formation, including large-scale project development and management. Engagements with TIG are available at no-cost to UAB faculty, but a referral is required; please reach out to the RDO to discuss if TIG support might be right for you.

  • Hanover Research
    The RDO maintains a partnership with Hanover Research to provide consultative grant support services. At the idea development stage, Hanover can assist UAB investigators seeking advice on how to frame a research project to match funder’s priorities, including consultations to improve unfunded proposals, research design, and grant seeking strategy. Engagements with Hanover Research are available at no-cost to UAB faculty, but a referral is required; please reach out to the RDO to discuss if Hanover support might be right for you.

  • Nascent Project Panels
    The Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS) organizes Nascent Project Panels that bring together investigators representing broad, transdisciplinary expertise to:
    1. brainstorm research ideas in the conceptual phase,
    2. hone study aims, and
    3. consider preliminary data that may be necessary to support a competitive grant proposal.
