2024 Advanced Diabetes Graduate Level Course
The course is designed for graduate students who are currently doing research in the diabetes area or are interested in learning about diabetes. It will include discussion of topics related to development, consequences, and treatment of diabetes including insulin secretion, beta-cell death, metabolic syndrome, obesity, insulin resistance, and islet/beta-cell replacement/translational approaches. The students will be introduced to different contributors to diabetes development, including the immune system, metabolic and secretory dysregulation, lipid signaling, and epigenetic events.
