Students and faculty at the OT booth at AOTA Inspire.

UAB Department of Occupational Therapy faculty, students, and alumni presented research, scholarship, and educational innovations at the American Occupational Therapy Association’s INSPIRE 2026 conference, held April 23–25 in Anaheim, California. Their work spanned clinical rehabilitation, quality of life, pediatric resources, occupational therapy education, and student-led evidence reviews.

New Findings in Practice-focused Research

Faculty, students, and alumni presented work on stroke rehabilitation, clinical assessment, quality of life for people living with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, daily routines in attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, mobility for people with vision loss, and disability-inclusive children’s literature.

Examining OT Education

UAB presenters examined trauma-informed teaching, policy and advocacy education, nature-based learning, and African American students’ experiences in team-based learning.

OTD Students Showcase Scholarship

Entry-level occupational therapy doctorate students presented systematic and scoping reviews on virtual reality, autism, animal-assisted therapy, and stroke rehabilitation.
