Chapman inducted into Alabama Healthcare Hall of Fame
Robert C. Chapman, LFACHE, a 1972 graduate of the Master of Science in Health Administration, was one of 12 people inducted to the Alabama Healthcare Hall of Fame on Saturday, July 28. The 2012 class was honored not only for their work in medicine and health, but also as players in some of the most vital issues of their time.

Houser Named to Institute of Medicine Committee
The Institute of Medicine has appointed Shannon H. Houser, Ph.D., associate professor in the Department of Health Services Administration in the School of Health Professions at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, to join its Committee to Review Data Systems for Monitoring HIV/AIDS Care.

Grant will fund pilot program to expand opioid use disorder treatment in Alabama
Alabama has been particularly affected by the opioid epidemic, say health care providers at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Armed with a grant from the Alabama Department of Mental Health, UAB is launching a pilot program aimed at getting more opioid users into treatment.
