The University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Metabolic Kitchen and Teaching Kitchen are innovative spaces designed to advance nutrition research, education, and community health through real-world application. Together, these kitchens bridge research, education, and practice—preparing future nutrition.
Metabolic Kitchen
The Metabolic Kitchen supports cutting-edge research by enabling the development of precisely controlled meals using whole foods. These meals are used in clinical and metabolic studies focused on conditions such as diabetes, obesity, and heart disease, allowing researchers to translate nutrition science into practical, evidence-based interventions.
