Visitor Parking

The closest public parking to the UAB School of Public Health is Lot 5A, which is an uncovered lot located at 1500 University Boulevard. The entrance to the lot is located on 16th Street South between 7th Avenue and University Boulevard (next to the Children’s of Alabama parking deck entrance). Alternatively, you can also park in the University Boulevard parking deck, located at 1915 University Boulevard. See the campus map for directions to the University Boulevard deck.

Parallel parking spaces (most with 2-hour meters) are available along 13th and 14th Streets, and along 10th Avenue South.

You may request a one-day visitor pass for our commuter/student parking lot from UAB Parking and Transportation Services. Visit their website for more information on parking.

Directions

  • From 1-65 Southbound (from Nashville)

    • Follow I-65 S to 4th Ave S in Birmingham. Take exit 259B from I-65 S.
    • Continue onto 4th Ave S (this is a one-way street headed east).
    • Stay on 4th Ave South until you come to the 14th Street South intersection.
    • Take a right onto 14th Street South.
    • Stay on 14th Street South until you come to 8th Ave S/University Blvd.
    • Turn left onto 8th Ave S/University Blvd.
    • Continue on 8th Ave S/University Blvd.
    • The School of Public Health will be on the right side of University Blvd, just after you pass the UAB Campus Green, at the southeast corner of 16th Street South and University Blvd.

    Directions to Lot 5A: You will need to turn left onto 16th Street South (before you reach the School of Public Health). The entrance to the parking lot is on the left, just before the Children’s of Alabama Parking Deck.

  • From 1-65 Northbound (from Montgomery)

    • Follow I-65 N to 8th Ave S/University Blvd. in Birmingham. Take exit 259 from 1-65 N.
    • Merge onto 8th Ave S/University Blvd and continue straight.
    • The School of Public Health will be on the right side of University Blvd, just after you pass the UAB Campus Green, at the southeast corner of 16th Street South and University Blvd.

    Directions to Lot 5A: You will need to turn left onto 16th Street South (before you reach the School of Public Health). The entrance to the parking lot is on the left, just before the Children’s of Alabama Parking Deck.

  • From the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International (BHM) Airport

    Approximate driving time from airport is 15-20 mins.

    • Exit airport onto Messer Airport Highway.
    • Merge onto I-59 South/I-20 West.
    • Take exit #126A Merge onto US 280 East/US 31 South.
    • Take 8th Avenue South exit.
    • Turn right on 8th Ave S/University Blvd and continue straight.
    • The School of Public Health will be on the left side of University Blvd, just after you pass the School of Nursing, at the southeast corner of 16th Street South and University Blvd.

    Directions to Lot 5A: You will need to turn right onto 16th Street South (just after you pass the School of Public Health on your left). The entrance to the parking lot is on the left, just before the Children’s of Alabama Parking Deck.
