Kristina Visscher mentoring Leland Fleming in a lab. Students in the Undergraduate Neuroscience Program receive extensive research experience within an active neuroscience laboratory. UAB has world-class research laboratories committed to high quality research and sharing the excitement of scientific exploration with trainees. This research is part of your coursework, but it also exposes you to the professional environments in which you may work after graduation.

Faculty Mentors

Our students participate in the design, performance, analysis, and dissemination of research under guidance of a faculty mentor. Postdoctoral and graduate students will also guide you through your research project. This experience will help you learn your way around a lab, give you a deeper appreciation of your research subject, and help you acquire knowledge and skills in experimental design, data analysis, scientific writing, and oral presentation.

You'll find information about the work of faculty who are interested in mentoring undergraduate students in our faculty mentor directory. Current students are encouraged to contact their neuroscience faculty advisor for a list of mentors currently accepting students.
