About the Program

The landscape of healthcare for LGBTQ individuals is rapidly evolving. As a public health professional, this graduate certificate can help equip you with the tools to advocate for advancements and eliminate inequities for LGBTQ wellness.

This certificate starts with an Introduction to LGBTQ Health to receive a better understanding of the broad scope of LGBTQ wellbeing and how to provide safe and effective care. Through the LGBTQ Health and Wellbeing Service Learning course, you will have the chance to work with Birmingham AIDS Outreach to learn about LGBTQ health advocacy on a community level. You can also choose from various elective courses in counseling, human services, psychology, and health behavior, to learn a multi-faceted approach to LGBTQ healthcare. In 15 hours, you can complete this certificate and help cultivate a safer, more inclusive environment in your public health profession.
