When it comes to criminal justice, you need to be thoroughly trained in order to do the best job possible. At UAB, we can give you the preparation you need for a career in police agencies, correctional agencies, and agencies involved in ancillary roles within the criminal justice system.
Why did we create this degree? Well, it all started when we saw a need for middle managers in various criminal justice agencies. But not just any middle manager. Turns out, there’s a real demand for people who are familiar with the latest theories and practice of criminal justice, and who also have administrative and management skills related to public policy, human resource management, and program evaluation. To meet this need, folks from our criminal justice department got together with people in our political science and public administration department with the goal of giving you a solid foundation in criminal justice. The result: a unique and rigorous curriculum that very well could set you up for a career as an upper level manager.
