As a certified reading specialist, you can open a world of opportunities for your students by helping them develop crucial literacy skills through a variety of practices.

In this 30-33-hour fully online certificate program, you’ll receive training in a range of skills, pedagogy, research, and instructional methods to equip you to be an effective reading specialist for PK-12 students. Learn how to serve the unique needs of a diverse student body through courses such as Coaching for Effective Instruction; Dyslexia Research, Education & Advocacy; and Teaching New Languages Through Reading and Writing. Plus, you’ll have the opportunity to demonstrate your knowledge and earn experience in a real school setting through an internship.

The certification-only option program is intended for teachers with a master’s degree, Class A certification in an instructional or instructional support area and a minimum of two years of teaching experience who wish to add a Class A certification in the Reading Specialist Program. No course substitutions are allowed.
