About the Program

We need people to study the mechanisms of a disease to gain insights into fighting them. With this certificate program, you can learn how to put research discoveries into practice, preparing you for a career in developing, testing, and applying therapies for treatment.

If you're a UAB grad student involved in full-time lab research, then you could qualify for this program. All you'll have to do is complete 12 credit hours anytime before you graduate. To begin, you'll take a core course such as Fundamentals of Clinical Research, Phenotyping Human Disease, or Drug Discovery and Development. Then, you'll pick three electives from our master of business administration, biostatistics, or other program that fits with your goals. These electives include Modeling Human Disease, Vocabulary in Clinical Research, Obesity, and Venture Planning, among others. In the end, you'll achieve valuable research training necessary for a leg up in your career.
