  • Want to attend the UAB School of Optometry? Qualifying students may be admitted to the the Early Medical Acceptance School Program, which guarantees acceptance to UAB's medical, optometry, or dental schools.

About the Program

You're interested in the eye-care profession, and you want the educational foundation you need for success. When you add our pre-optometry track to your major, we can help bolster your application for higher education, putting you on the path to an eye-care career.

Right away, we're going to assign you a pre-health advisor who will take a look at your vision for your future, and help you register for the specific courses and labs that you're going to need. These pre-optometry prerequisites will cover such topics as biology, general chemistry, organic chemistry, physics, microbiology, biochemistry, calculus, and statistics. In addition, you'll take a variety of non-science courses such as English, social/behavioral science, and psychology.
