Finding Your Path

In the UAB School of Education and Human Sciences, we strive to empower students to become agents of positive change in their communities. We are dedicated to equipping each graduate with the knowledge, skills, and experiences needed to excel as practitioners and professionals in any setting—urban, suburban, or rural.

Why did you choose UAB?

I fell in love with the campus… in addition to the excellent education, it was a no brainer!

Why did you choose your major?

I’ve always loved to learn and to teach others, through coaching or tutoring. It felt natural to want to follow my passions and become a teacher!

What is your favorite thing about the UAB School of Education and Human Sciences?

All the professors are passionate and considerate!

What class have you enjoyed the most so far at UAB?

My favorite class has been EDF362 with Dr. Loder-Jackson! It focuses on the ethics of teaching while considering the social, historical, and philosophical implications.

What is your favorite place to study on or off campus

1st floor of Sterne (anywhere but in my bedroom!).

What piece of advice would you give a prospective SOEHS student?

Studying is much more productive when it’s not crammed the night before an exam!

What are your plans after you graduate from UAB?

Become an elementary teacher, hopefully close to home.
