Dominique T. Everett was awarded the NSF EPSCoR Scholarship for Ph.D. research, Sharon Uwanyuze presented a paper at AISTech, and Md Mehedi Hasan earned the AIST Training Award this spring.

Dominique T. Everett Awarded NSF EPSCoR Scholarship for Ph.D. Research

Dominique T. Everett, a Ph. D candidate in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, recently received the NSF EPSCoR Graduate Research Scholarship Program Round 12 award for his dissertation research.

Everett will be advancing membranes for water purification by integrating the photocatalysis, adsorption, and particulate size exclusion techniques in a complex construct.

He also received a Caroline P. Ireland Travel Grant, which he used to collaborate with research scientists at the General Electric Global Research Center in Niskayuna, New York, as well as with scientists at UAH, and UA.

Sharon Uwanyuze Presents Paper at AISTech

Sharon Uwanyuze, a MSE junior has recently presented her research project titled “Can technology save your castings? Tracking inhomogeneity in Metals” at the Undergraduate Student Project Presentation Contest at AISTech in Nashville on May 8, 2017. Association for Iron & Steel Technology (AIST) select only eight undergraduate students from the world for this contest. This year only four students form USA, one from Canada, two from Brazil, and one from Argentina were selected. 

Md Mehedi Hasan Earns AIST Training Award

Md Mehedi Hasan, a MSE PhD student has received Association for Iron and Steel Technology (AIST) training award for attending the "Secondary Steelmaking Refractories" seminar, which will be held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin (23 - 26 October, 2017).
