Wyatt Bradbury named 2022 Region VI Safety Professional of the Year

Wyatt Bradbury, Adjunct Professor in the Department of Engineering, has been named as the 2022 Region VI Safety Professional of the Year by the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP).

Wyatt is a member of the National Capital Chapter of ASSP. He has been an active chapter member, serving as president and numerous other leadership roles, and led the chapter to Platinum Level status during his tenure. He currently serves Region VI as the Assistant Regional Vice President of Communications, and at a society level as the Chair of the Community Leader Training Committee and a member of the Nominations and Elections Committee.

When she was in high school in Houston, Texas, Daniela De Nobrega was “all over the sciences,” she said. “Calculus, statistics, physics — I liked them all. So when I got to college, I wanted to find a major that offers a little bit of everything.” That is how she ended up as a biomedical engineering major in the UAB School of Engineering. “Biomedical engineering is challenging but also encouraging,” said De Nobrega, who is a sophomore and member of the UAB Honors College Personalized Honors Program. “It makes you want to keep learning.”

The winners were chosen from among 13 nominees who were honored at the banquet.
