With UAB’s new alternate work options program, employees may find themselves working in different environments depending on the day. 

Keeping up with UAB technology policies and procedures will help keep you and your tech safe and secure, no matter where you are working. 

Our top tips if you are remote: 

• When possible, use a UAB device.  
• If it’s not possible to use a UAB device, use UAB Anywhere to process sensitive and restricted data. 

• Personal devices must meet the requirements of the Minimum Security for Computing Devices Rule and Encryption Guidelines. 
• Never use public WiFi. Use UAB Campus VPN or UAB Anywhere for remote work. 
• Refer to the cloud storage chart to determine which option works best for you, and to the classification chart to determine what type of data you should store and where. 
• Connect to UAB via VPN at least once a month to get needed software and OS updates.
