Overview:

Dr. Kojima received her B.S in Biology in 2004 from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), funded through a Shiota Japanese Scholarship Award. Prior to her graduate career, she worked for 2 years as a Lab Technician within the Department's of Infectious Disease and Microbiology at UAB (2002-2004) where she regularly carried a number of standard analytical and microbiology techniques, including protein enrichments, Western blots, PCR, and DNA sequencing. Dr. Kojima completed her Ph.D. in Microbiology at UAB in 2009. Her dissertation focus was on the Pathologic and Proteomic Characterization of genetically engineered mouse (GEM) models of pancreatic cancer. During that time she worked with the MSP-SF to develop a number of quantitative proteomics applications that included a HTP 2D MALDI-TOF-MS SOP for profiling the LMW serologic peptidome/ proteome, in addition to improving the active GeLC and 6-plex TMT MudPIT SOP's. Once graduated, Dr. Kojima received postdoctoral training through the Cancer Prevention and Control Program (2009-2010), followed by the UAB NRSA Trauma and Inflammation Research Program (2010-2012), while working closely with the MSP-SF. She then joined the MSP-SF full time as a Research Associate and as the lead Applications Scientist. Dr. Kojima is highly qualified for her current position, and has worked very hard to become a highly seasoned proteomics specialist with more than 10 years experience applying clinical/ translational proteomics applications from sample preparation, MS and statistical analysis, to proteomics and genomics based bioinformatics, including pathway analysis.
