Mission

The Asthma care team has developed an integrated practice unit where multidisciplinary providers can evaluate patients during a single clinic visit and deliver state-of-the-art care. The program works closely with the greater asthma community to provide seamless care while developing rigorous quality improvement initiatives with public transparency of outcomes.

Objectives

The Asthma Program is also integrated with the multiple UAB research groups, including the Lung Health Center.  Our asthma team is recognized for its transformative research, including the development of new therapies for the treatment of this disease.

About Our Practice

UAB is a leading center on the research of the mechanisms that produce asthma, leading to novel therapies for this very prevalent disease. The Asthma Clinic focuses on a multidisciplinary approach to the treatment of asthma, working in close collaboration with Allergy and Ear/Nose and Throat specialists. The work of Phillip J. O'Reily, MD and Mary J. Wade, ARNP aids countless asthma patients in our region every year. Our asthma care program emphasizes education along with care, so each patient is expected to become actively involved with his or her treatment.
