  • Advanced Bariatric & Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellowship

    The UAB Advanced Bariatric and Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellowship Program, established in 2003, is fully accredited by the Fellowship Council to offer advanced training in a broad range of surgical disciplines. Our goal is excellence in advanced operative techniques, clinical care and education that targets each fellow’s specific clinical interests, from bariatric and foregut to hernia and colorectal.

  • Colorectal Surgery Fellowship

    Why choose UAB for your colorectal fellowship?

     

    • We are a new fellowship program but are not new to teaching. All of our faculty have extensive experience working with general surgery residents and other fellows.
    • We are a young but very experienced, dynamic group of faculty who are enthusiastic about sharing our love of colorectal surgery with future colleagues! Our diverse training backgrounds will expose the fellow to a variety of techniques.
      • Fellow will receive a high volume of cases from bread and butter to complex referrals.
      • Faculty performed 500 anorectal cases, 900 abdominal cases (including 11 pouches and >100 LARs) and 500 endoscopies in last year.
    • Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center with collaboration with GI and exposure to advanced IBD
    • Complex CRC
      • Advanced sphincter sparing techniques including intersphincteric proctectomies and robotic transanal excisions
      • Colorectal cancer center of excellence
    • Minimally Invasive Colorectal Surgery
      • Excellent variety with one of the highest volume robotic colorectal experiences in the country, advanced straight laparoscopy and hand-assist laparoscopy
