Biography
Lieutenant Colonel Jacob Anderson, D.O., FACS, joined the Division of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery as a clinical assistant professor in 2016. He serves as the Assistant Operations Officer of Detachment 1, 720th Operations Support Squadron and is a general surgeon with the Special Operations Surgical Team based at UAB. He earned his first commission from the US Air Force Academy in 2005. He completed training and served as an aircraft maintenance officer and Plans Flight Commander at Nellis AFB. He was responsible for overseeing modernization and future missions planning for the 57th Maintenance Group which managed over 300 aircraft including the Air Force Weapons School. Following this assignment, Anderson attended medical school via the Health Professions Scholarship program and was re-commissioned into the Medical Corps. He completed his internship and surgical residency training at Keesler Medical Center. He is a two-time Bronze Star Medal recipient. He was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel in 2022.
