The mission of the Design Analytic Unit’s statistical support center is to promote collaboration among researchers across the campus to further scientific discovery. We provide statistical support and services to UAB affiliated faculty, staff, students, and external clients. Our data science team possesses broad technical and computational expertise across all areas of modern statistics and machine learning techniques.
- Study aims – assisting with defining and assessing study objectives and outcome measures
- Study Design (Trials and Observational) – statistically efficient, meeting practical constraints
- Data Analysis & Interpretation of Results – advanced analytic and data visualization advise and support for trials, observational data and administrative data such as electronic medical records and providing clear and concise interpretations for research findings
- Grant Preparation – support for sample size estimations, formalize analyses plans
- Manuscript Submission – assist you with statistical reporting for manuscripts to be published
- Statistical consultation and mentoring – provide support as consultants/mentors for statistical analyses
- Data Capture and Data Management (for selective efforts): assist in implementing data-capture systems for trials and observational studies, which would include setting up electronic case report forms, integrated implementation of randomization techniques including minimization, and integration of wearable and remote data-collection technologies such as integrated voice response and text message for remote collection of behavioral data.
- Network of Specialized Statistical Experts and long-term collaboration – build and sustain collaborations with research professionals with expertise in advanced biostatistical and machine learning methods
