Jennifer Carlisle, OD, Class of 2019, an optometrist at Gordy Eye Care in Phenix City, Alabama, has published Super Sight: An Alphabet Coloring Book About Eyes. Designed for children, the book introduces eye care and vision concepts through an A-to-Z format while helping young readers develop motor skills and feel more comfortable about visiting the eye doctor.
"I thought an alphabet list would be something kids could follow but also teach them some things about eyes or coming to the eye doctor along the way," Carlisle said.
Created as both an educational and interactive resource, the coloring book offers parents, teachers and eye care professionals a fun way to introduce children to vision and eye health concepts.
"It would be a great tool to use in preparing a kiddo to come to the eye doctor," she said. "It is also good for practicing motor skills."
Carlisle said the children in her life have enjoyed the book's interactive approach to learning about eye care, reinforcing its value as an early educational tool.
For Carlisle, the project extends her passion for patient education beyond the exam room, helping children build familiarity with eye health from an early age.
