Twelve optometrists will join the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry as residents for the 2017-2018 academic year. The incoming residents filled slots in six programs offered by the School, and they will begin their training in the summer.

Part of the School’s mission is to educate optometry students, residents and future scientists, and therefore, the School places significant emphasis on residency education. It offers three in-house residency programs, which include Family Practice Optometry, Cornea and Contact Lenses, and Pediatric Optometry.
