UAB leadership continues to work diligently with government relations professionals and meets regularly to monitor, assess and address rapidly evolving developments related to recent executive orders and guidance. Researchers with specific operational questions about their proposals, projects, or funding because of the executive orders or communications from federal agencies should reach out to the appropriate UAB officials listed in this story.

Are you 60 years or older and interested in participating in research? Join our study! The PAVE Study at the UAB Center for Exercise Medicine will examine physical activity levels and heart disease risk in urban and rural older adults. We’re investigating a potential future treatment for people with obesity/overweight and weight-related conditions.
This clinical trial is studying an investigational drug for people with obesity/overweight and weight-related conditions. Improving Sleep in 12- to 30-Year-Olds with Down Syndrome
We are conducting a research study at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) to adapt a virtual Mindfulness-Based Therapy for Insomnia program for individuals with Down syndrome. This study aims to improve sleep and overall quality of life.
What’s Involved?
8 weekly intervention sessions (1 hour via Zoom)
Wearing a Fitbit to track sleep patterns (Fitbit provided)
Completing online sleep and quality of life surveys
Participating in a focus group at the end of the study
Who Can Participate?
Individuals aged 12 to 30 years old with a diagnosis of Down syndrome who experience sleep difficulties.
Compensation
Participants and caregivers can earn up to $400 for completing assessments and an additional $100 for participating in the focus group.
