The Office of Human Resource Management is committed to assisting UAB employees in preparing for growth and upward mobility in their careers. To improve the recruitment and internal transfer process for all internal UAB job applicants, all job opportunities will be located centrally on BlazerNET effective Monday, Feb. 5.

To access the online system through BlazerNET, log in to the portal at blazernet.uab.edu (or click on the convenient link on UAB’s home page). Then, go to the Employee Resources tab; to access the system, click on UAB Employment Opportunities in the Quick Links channel. (See accompanying illustration, p. 4.)

By limiting access to the online employment application through BlazerNET, HRM can ensure that all UAB employees seeking a job transfer are correctly identified as internal applicants once they enter the applicant database. Also, the internal job site will enable UAB employees to search for jobs throughout UAB – all campus, hospital and Health System jobs are listed at the same location.  In addition, the online system and process will: 

• Eliminate the need to fax or submit a hardcopy application.  
• List the hiring department for each job opening.
• Let you view career opportunities or search using specific criteria to find careers that match your interests.
• Allow you to apply directly for a specific position or multiple (up to 10) positions posted on the Web (no more application update forms).
• Enable UAB to send you an e-mail confirmation (using the e-mail address you provide) to let you know that your application has been submitted successfully.
• Enable UAB to communicate with you via e-mail throughout the application process so that you are         informed on the status of the job.

Please note that this change is for internal transfers only; the process for external applicants remains unchanged.

Remember, in order to be eligible for a transfer you must meet the following requirements:
• University employees: You must have been employed in your current position for one year with a satisfactory performance record.
• Hospital employees: You must have been in your current position for six months if an RN or one year for all other classifications, and can have no more than 7.5 attendance points.
