The UAB Percussion Ensemble will present a concert, directed by Gene Fambrough, at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, in the Alys Stephens Center Jemison Concert Hall. Admission is free. Call 975-2787.

The concert program opens with a recent work, Exploration of Time, by Eckhard Kopetzki. This powerful display of drumming will literally begin the concert with a bang. Also on the program is an arrangement of Claude Debussy's beautiful piano prelude, The Sunken Cathedral, arranged for percussion ensemble by Fambrough.

Other pieces on the program include Immortal Dream by Nathan Daughtrey, Dotty Dimples by George Hamilton Green and Living Room Music by the American composer John Cage. The evening will conclude with a major work, Concerto for Percussion Ensemble by David Gillingham, which is a tour de force showcasing the different instrument families in the percussion section, Fambrough said.
