Undergraduate Degrees
We are a school without boundaries.
No dreams, ideas or goals are too big.
We won’t tell you to choose A or B because you can have both at UAB.
Choose to major in either Biobehavioral Nutrition and Wellness, Biomedical Sciences, Disability Studies and Rehabilitation Science, or Health Care Management then customize your major by choosing elective courses in specialized areas.
Biobehavioral Nutrition and Wellness
Our B.S. in Biobehavioral Nutrition and Wellness (BNW) program goes beyond the old 'you are what you eat' adage. Our students dive deep into the relationship between human health, mindfulness, nutrition, metabolism and food as medicine. We are a student-focused program that works to prepare our graduates to directly address community health at multiple levels upon graduation. Students are also well prepared to apply to graduate programs in nutrition sciences and other related health care fields such as UAB’s Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, PhD in Nutrition Sciences, physical therapy, occupational therapy, physician assistant, public health and medical school.
Biomedical Sciences
Are you looking for a flexible and solid undergraduate degree that will prepare you for today’s fastest growing occupational sector? Then the B.S. in Biomedical Sciences (BMD) program is for you! We prepare students who are interested in pursuing careers in health professions or advanced degrees in healthcare-related field. Our program offers fewer required labs than other general science majors and is more healthcare focused. The program is broad enough so that students can pursue non-healthcare related careers and advanced degrees, if their career goals should change. Ultimately, you will tailor your degree to fit your academic and career goals.
Disability Studies and Rehabilitation Science
Are you interested in working with individuals with disabilities to improve their quality of life, access, and participation in their community? Maybe your long-term goals are to work in the rehabilitation field as an occupational therapist, physical therapist or other health professional or perform cutting edge research to improve clinical practice. We invite you to explore our undergraduate degree in Disability Studies and Rehabilitation Science.
Health Care Management
The B.S. in Health Care Management (HCM) program is designed for aspiring leaders and committed professionals who are interested in careers working to improve our healthcare system in hospitals; managed care organizations; medical group practices; ambulatory, long‐term care, insurance and pharmaceutical companies; consulting firms; government agencies; and other for‐profit and nonprofit health care organizations. We recognize that health care management is the crossroads of two important bodies of knowledge – health care and management – and believe your education should reflect this notable distinction. HCM is both challenging and rewarding.
Early Acceptance and Fast-Track
We also have Early Acceptance and Fast-Track programs letting you earn your Bachelor’s and Master’s in less time.
Minors
Looking for a healthcare minor? We offer minors in Biomedical Sciences, Health Care Management, Health Information Management, and Nutrition Sciences.
