Students can earn the residential Master of Science in Health Administration (MSHA) degree program and the Master of Business Administration, Master of Science in Health Informatics, or the Master of Public Health at the same time through a dual degree program. Additionally, students in the residential MSHA program have the option of taking additional coursework to complete a Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Financial Management or Healthcare Quality and Safety.

MSHA/MBA
The MSHA/MBA dual degree program is offered through UAB’s School of Health Professions and Collat School of Business. Students in this program take a blend of courses from the MSHA and MBA programs, providing a strong general business foundation with the healthcare-specific coursework. Students are able to graduate from the Collat School of Business with their MBA before their Administrative Residency.
MSHA/MPH
The MSHA/MPH dual degree program is offered through UAB’s School of Health Professions and School of Public Health. The program is ideal for professionals pursuing research, government, or public health-related careers. The program offers a strong healthcare leadership degree, in addition to an in-depth study of public health challenges and topics. Students are able to graduate from the School of Public Health with their MPH before their Administrative Residency.
MSHA/MSHI
The MSHA/MSHI dual degree program allows students to get a deeper study of health informatics, an increasingly essential part of healthcare administration, with a strong healthcare leadership degree. Both degree programs are offered from the Department of Health Services Administration in the School of Health Professions. Students are able to graduate with their MSHI before their Administrative Residency differentiating students during the residency seeking process.

Healthcare Financial Management
Students enrolled in the residential MSHA program may opt to take additional coursework during their second and third years in the program to earn the Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Financial Management. The certificate program includes courses from both the Department of Health Services Administration in the School of Health Professions and the Collat School of Business.
Healthcare Quality and Safety
The Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Quality and Safety (HQS) is a unique, multidisciplinary approach to the analysis and solution of complex problems. The program, which is offered totally online, prepares clinical and administrative professionals to deploy quality-and safety-focused strategies for their organizations. HQS is a high quality, academically rigorous forum for developing the individual knowledge and skills needed to conduct clinical practice and non-clinical process improvement projects in a complex medical environment. The curriculum is delivered by an interdisciplinary team of faculty from the University of Alabama at Birmingham Schools of Health Professions, Nursing, Public Health, and Medicine.
