SYE Navigators
The primary focus of the SYE navigators initiative is to support second-year students as they matriculate into their second-year at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Supporting second-year students on their road to independence and personal growth is essential. The purpose of this program is to empower students to seek assistance and to understand better the intricacies of being a second-year college student. Navigators is a yearlong mentorship program built to increase connection between second-year students and the UAB community. Whether you are faculty, staff, or a student there is an opportunity for you. The opportunities are as follows:
- Staff/Faculty: Be a sponsor and mentor two students
- Juniors/Seniors: Mentor a second-year student
- Second years: Find a mentor
SYE Lead Team
The purpose of the SYE Lead Team is to create a dedicated group of student leaders who will represent and serve as the voice for all UAB second-year students. Team members will make recommendations and act as a liaison to the Second Year Experience Program and Housing and Residence Life; this includes advocating for student needs and providing feedback on a regular basis. Through their feedback, the SYE Coordinator will further develop the program to better meet the needs of second-year students.
