Paulette Evans, EdS, has taught a combination of general, advanced, and advanced placement biology at Minor High School within the Jefferson County School District. Paulette is also an adjunct instructor at Bevill State Community College where she has instructed students in biology and anatomy and physiology.

During her tenure with Jefferson County Paulette served as facilitator of Minor High School's Continuous Improvement Leadership Team, the Science Olympiad Coach, and the senior class sponsor. In addition, five years ago she began work as a contract instructor with A+ College Ready. Paulette spends every spring traveling the state preparing students for the College Board Advanced Placement Biology exam. More recently Paulette was in a select group of A+ College Ready biology teachers chosen to become a National Science and Mathematics Initiative Laying the Foundation teacher trainer, and now travels the state preparing advanced and AP Biology teachers to facilitate these courses.

Since joining UABTeach Paulette has had the pleasure of judging the UTeach National Conference Poster session (2016) and presenting at the Uteach National Conference (2015). She has also led several UABTeach professional development sessions for STEM teachers in the Birmingham area.

Paulette calls UAB home. As an undergraduate she was inducted as a member of the Iota Lambda chapter (UAB) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. During her Master's study at UAB she received the 2006 Joyce Sibley Scholarship as well as being in the first cohort of the Urban Teacher Enhancement Program (UTEP). In 2011 Paulette received the UAB Outstanding Secondary Educational Specialist Student award.

When she's not teaching, Paulette enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, and trying to appease her feline shadow Samuel.
