  • Want to complete your advanced degree at UAB? Qualifying students may be admitted to the the Early Medical Acceptance School Program, which guarantees acceptance to UAB's medical, optometry, or dental schools.

About the Program

Are you interested in becoming a doctor, nurse, or other health-care professional? While pre-med is not in itself a major, you can consider adding it to your science or non-science degree. As you complete your undergraduates studies, you'll beef up your application for an advanced degree.

You see, health schools have prerequisites, and this track is designed to get those out of the way for you. First, you should discuss which potential schools you're considering with your advisors so you'll know what to take. Course offerings cover topics such as English, math, chemistry, biology, organic chemistry, physics, psychology, sociology, and computer science. Chances are, you'll need to cover most of these, and many of them have lab components as well.
