Across UAB, School of Dentistry faculty contribute through teaching, research, service, leadership, and professional development initiatives that strengthen connections throughout the university.
One recent example is Jon Bowie, an assistant professor in the Department of Periodontology. Bowie recently participated in programming through the UAB Center for Teaching & Learning, completing the CTL’s Learning’s Essentials of Teaching program.
The program supports faculty development through sessions focused on teaching, learning, and student success. Bowie’s strong participation throughout the series was acknowledged during the closing program, where he was also acknowledged during the closing program for attending the most CTL workshops during the past year.

Bowie’s participation builds on the school’s continued engagement with colleagues and resources throughout the university. Experiences like these help strengthen classroom and clinical education while fostering connections across UAB.
