I have served as the Webmaster for the Graduate Program for Teaching English as a Second Language at UAB since 2007. I am a former French and Spanish teacher, having most recently taught at Chelsea High School, Shelby County Schools, Alabama and Whakatane High School in Whakatane, New Zealand. I have always been very interested in educational technology - not only as a means of work efficiency and information sharing, but especially its integration into the classroom. My most recent full-time position in education was Data Administrator/Trainer in the Technology Department of Shelby County Schools.

I received a BA from the University of South Florida in Foreign Language Education (French and Spanish). Through the Project EQUAL grant, I completed my Master's in ESL at UAB in 2007. Highlights of my teaching career include being named Chelsea High School Teacher of the Year and taking two student groups on trips to Europe.

I live in Whakatane, Eastern Bay of Plenty, on the North Island of New Zealand. I am incredibly blessed to work remotely for UAB from the other side of the world in this beautiful coastal town. My husband Matthew and I have seven adult children and four grandchildren between us, who are spread all over the world! We spend much of our free time volunteering for our church and I also enjoy creating and maintaining websites, reading, writing, embroidery and painting.

Program Coordinator Dr. Susan Spezzini and I have worked very hard to make the Graduate Program for Teaching ESL website both user-friendly and full of helpful information and resources. If you have any comments or suggestions, please feel free to email me.
