Students completing this program and all requirements outlined in the UAB undergraduate catalog will receive a baccalaureate degree and be eligible for Alabama “Class B” professional teaching certificates in elementary education (grades K-6).
Program Checklist
Professional preparation includes courses in humanistic and behavioral studies, elementary education, curriculum and teaching, evaluation of teaching and learning, extensive pre-internship field experiences in K-6 settings, and an internship.
- 6 out of the last 9 Alabama Teachers of the Year are UAB School of Education alumni.
- Learning to teach diverse populations is paramount to our work. At the UAB School of Education, you will have teaching field experiences in urban, suburban, and rural environments.
- Students have the opportunity to conduct research and present at the Office of Undergraduate Research Expo.
- Qualified students can apply for the Early Childhood and Elementary Education Honors Program in their junior year.
