UAB is taking a leading role in health promotion worldwide

The charter was developed in 2015 by a group of health promotion experts from dozens of countries worldwide, outlining best practices that higher-education institutions can use to promote health and wellbeing in their own communities and beyond.

UAB publishes the first Health Promoting University (HPU) Campus Environments and Determinants Model

Led by the work of Dr. Peter Ginter, Professor of Health Policy and Organization, the first HPU model illustrating the inter connectedness of wellbeing for a campus was published in the article "The Okanagan Charter to improve wellbeing in higher education: shifting the paradigm."

Upcoming changes to UAB's Paid Parental Leave and Sick Time Policies

The latest example of how UAB is embedding health into campus policy, creating a supportive campus environment, and generating a culture of wellbeing includes the expansion of parental leave and sick time.
