The 2024 Tri-State Pathology Conference took place April 27-28 at the Gulf Hills Hotel & Resort in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, bringing together the Alabama Association of Pathologists, the Louisiana Association of Pathologists, and the Mississippi Association of Pathologists for a stellar lineup of presentations.
Ananya Deshpande, an undergraduate student in the lab of Elizabeth Brown, Ph.D., MPH, Endowed Professor of Cancer Pathobiology and Associate Director for Population Science, O'Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center, is a recipient of this year's UAB Honors College Presidential Honors Fellowship.
"The Presidential Honors Fellowship will allow me to deepen my knowledge of myeloma and hopefully improve patient outcomes, and I am so honored to receive this incredible fellowship," Deshpande says.
The UAB Department of Pathology hosted its second annual Staff Retreat on Administrative Professionals Day 2024. The retreat featured wonderful speakers, food and camaraderie.
UAB Pathology Resident Mishi Bhushan, M.D., M.P.H., PGY3, learned recently that she scored among the highest in the nation of the Resident In-Service Examination, or RISE. Bhushan scored in the greater than 99th percentile on the Clinical Pathology component of the exam as compared to other PGY3s nationally taking the test.
