On August 31, 2023, the Department of Pathology welcomes two new faculty members to the Division of Anatomic Pathology.

Mustafa_Goksel.jpgMustafa Goksel, M.D., joins the department as assistant professor, Anatomic Pathology. Dr. Goksel was previously a GU fellow at the Indiana University Health Pathology Laboratory in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Goksel earned his medical degree in 2014 from the Pamukkale University School of Medicine in Denizli, Turkey. In 2015, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher in The Ohio State University’s Department of Neuropathology in Columbus, Ohio, before joining the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, Arkansas, for a residency in anatomic and clinical pathology. In 2019, Goksel transferred to Ohio State to complete his residency in 2021 before joining Houston Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas, as a surgical pathology fellow.

Goksel earned the Clinical Microbiology Award at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and the Resident Teaching Award from Ohio State. He is a member of the College of American Pathologists and the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, and is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology. Goksel’s research is focused on kidney and testicular tumors.

Goksel_Behiye.jpgBehiye Goksel, M.D., also joins the department as assistant professor, Anatomic Pathology. Dr. Goksel was previously a GI fellow at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts.

Goksel earned her medical degree in 2014 from the Pamukkale University School of Medicine in Denizli, Turkey, before joining The Ohio State University’s Department of Neuropathology as a postdoctoral researcher in 2015. In 2017, Goksel began her anatomic and clinical pathology residency at Case Western Reserve University’s Cleveland Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio, before joining Houston Methodist Hospital as a surgical pathology fellow.

Goksel is a member of the College of American Pathologists, the American Society for Clinical Pathology, and the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology. She is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology, and her research focus is benign and malignant GI neoplasms.
