Bixby_Eric.pngOn October 3, 2022, the Department of Pathology welcomes a new member to our UAB Community Pathology Practice Program (CPPP) in Montgomery, AL.

Eric Bixby, M.D., joins the department as assistant professor from both Brookwood Baptist Medical Center where he served as Laboratory Medical Director and PathGroup where he served as a pathologist in Birmingham, AL.

Bixby earned his medical degree from Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, OR, before completing his residency in the University of Tennessee Health Science Center’s Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine in Memphis, TN, where he also served as Chief Resident. He went on to complete a fellowship in Surgical/Breast Pathology at the University of California San Diego’s Department of Pathology before working as the Blood Bank Medical Director at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center and Staff Pathologist at the Pathologists’ Regional Laboratory in Lewiston, ID.

Bixby moved to Montgomery, AL, to work as associate pathologist at Alabama Pathology Associates and served in a number of roles over a decade, including Laboratory Medical Director for the Tallahassee, AL, Community Hospital, Georgiana Medical Center, and Lake Martin Community Hospital in Dadeville, AL, and Microbiology Medical Director and Director of Laboratory Sciences at Jackson Hospital and Baptist Health in Montgomery. In 2020, Bixby worked as a pathologist for Summit Pathology in Colorado Springs, CO, before joining Brookwood Baptist Medical Center and PathGroup in 2022.

His research interests include breast pathology and Her2/neu testing.

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Bixby back to Montgomery and to the UAB Department of Pathology. His expertise will be a valuable addition to the UAB Pathology outreach services.
