On May 6, 2024, the Department of Pathology welcomes a new faculty member to the Division of Neuropathology, led by C. Ryan Miller, M.D., Ph.D.

Christina Appin, M.D., joins the department as assistant professor, Neuropathology. Dr. Appin joins us from her most recent role as a postdoctoral scholar in the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of California at San Francisco, in the lab of Joseph Costello, Ph.D. Prior to this she was an assistant professor in the Department of Pathology at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine.

From 2019 to 2022 Appin held a T32 training grant fellowship from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and National Institutes of Health Training Program in Translational Brain Tumor Research. She completed a Molecular Genetic Pathology Fellowship at Emory University School of Medicine in 2015, and a Neuropathology Fellowship in 2014. Appin completed AP/CP residency at Emory as well.

Her medical degree is from the University of South Florida School of Medicine, and she is a member of the Society for Neuro-Oncology and the American Association of Neuropathologists, with multiple publications and presentations.
