22 Service Awards CollageOn March 21 several of our colleagues will be recognized for their years of service working at UAB and the Department of Pathology.

The UAB Service Awards proudly honors those employees who have made a significant career commitment to the University of Alabama at Birmingham. The program is designed to recognize and express appreciation to employees at each five-year milestone who have completed five or more years of service to UAB. More than 1,200 UAB employees will be honored at the annual service awards and those with more than 20 years of service will be honored by the university at a reception on March 21 in the Hill Student Center. The Department's 2023 Service Award Recipients with 20 or more years of service are:

Vishnu VB. Reddy, M.D. - 30 years of service. Reddy is a Division Director, Laboratory Medicine who recently earned the President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2022.

Casey Weaver, M.D. - 30 years of service. From his pathology residency at Washington University in St. Louis, to his election to the National Academy of Sciences in spring of 2023, Weaver has continued to uphold the highest standards in the field of Pathology. He is one of only three UAB faculty to ever be elected to the NAS.

Cheryl June - 25 years of service. June is a researcher in the Division of Anatomic Pathology and has been an integral part of the department in her time at UAB.

Scott Ballinger, Ph.D. - 20 years of service. Ballinger is a professor and associate dean for the Division of Molecular and Cellular Pathology. His area of study focuses on understanding the mechanisms and processes that contribute to the etiology of common disease development.

Hyung-Gyoon Kim, Ph.D. - 20 years of service. Kim is a researcher in the Division of Anatomic Pathology.

Barbara Klocke - 20 years of service. Klocke is a scientist in the Division of Molecular and Cellular Pathology.

Amanda Mitchell-Griffin - 20 years of service. Mitchell-Griffin is a program coordinator for the Division of Anatomic Pathology.

Amy Ratliff - 15 years of service. Ratliff is a researcher in the Division of Laboratory Medicine.

10 Years of Service:
