Gene Siegal, M.D., Ph.D., Professor, Anatomic Pathology and Executive Vice Chair, was sworn in as incoming president of the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), a national organization that brings together more than 100,000 anatomic and clinical pathologists, residents and fellows, medical laboratory professionals and students. It is the world's largest professional membership organization for pathologists and laboratory professionals, and has been in operation since 1922.

Siegal began his role as president at the ASCP 2019 Annual Meeting, held September 11-13 in Phoenix, Arizona. He takes over the position from James Wiscarver, M.D., Ph.D., FASCP, University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, NE. He will serve as president for the 2019-2020 term.
Dr. Siegal is editor-in-chief of the journal Laboratory Investigation.
