Dr. Jennifer Craig was born in Denver, CO, and moved to Birmingham, AL, at the age of seven when her father accepted a professor position at the UAB School of Engineering. She became interested in optometry during her undergraduate years, and she and some of her classmates helped found the UAB Pre-Optometry Club. She graduated summa cum laude from UAB in 2009 with a BS in Biology, and she then graduated from the UAB School of Optometry in 2013. Dr. Craig practiced in the Birmingham area for six years before deciding to join the faculty at the UAB School of Optometry.

She enjoys teaching in the Clinical Evaluation of the Visual System (CEVS) lab where second-year optometry students learn all the necessary skills to perform a comprehensive eye exam. She lectures in the Contact Lens I course and is the course director for the Contact Lens II course. Dr. Craig also leads the clinical skills lab for international optometric students. She serves as an attending in the Primary Care, Cornea & Contact Lens, and Specialty Contact Lens Clinics. Dr. Craig is also the faculty advisor for the Faculty Student Mentoring Club.

Dr. Craig and her husband live in Hoover, AL, with their two daughters, and she enjoys volunteering and singing in the choir at their church.
