Nationwide, the cost of health care is rising, and UAB is working to balance the affect of these costs on our employees and the organization. Here are some things you can do to reduce your out-of-pocket expenses.

The new UAB Medicine 4YOU is expected to provide stellar customer service that results in a better patient experience for employees.

Eligible employees may choose among four health plans plus dental and vision benefits during the annual open enrollment Oct. 27-Nov. 13. New this year — some employees may be eligible for medical premium assistance based on household income.

Benefit-eligible employees will have the choice of enrolling in a traditional health care plan during the annual open enrollment Oct. 27-Nov.13. Changes in tier levels for health care plans are coming in 2018.

The university and its medical center are among the nation’s top organizations that have achieved success in improving the health of their employees through wellness programs.

VIVA Choice — UAB’s consumer-driven health plan — is an option for benefit-eligible employees during the annual open enrollment Oct. 27-Nov.13.

This public event offers another opportunity for the UAB community to hear about UAB’s progress firsthand and ask questions.

Eligible employees of UAB, UAB Hospital, and UAB Hospital Management LLC will have the option to choose or decline vision coverage during the annual open enrollment for benefits that begins 7 a.m. Oct. 27 and concludes 5 p.m. Nov. 13.
