- Number of Awards: Up to two grants will be awarded annually.
- Length of award: Up to two years.
- Total award amount: Up to $50,000 will be awarded based on the merit and needs of the grant application.

-
General Criteria
This is an inclusive award whereby acceptable research areas in alignment with the mission of SHP include, but are not limited to, biobehavioral health–related research, rehabilitation research, clinical research, epidemiological or health-services research, and basic science research.
- Proposals will be scored based on significance, innovation, impact, and scientific approach in alignment with NIH scoring criteria.
- Priority will be given to projects that have the potential to make a substantial impact on the scientific field and the career development of junior faculty through the interdisciplinary efforts of the MPIs from multiple SHP departments.
- Senior investigators may apply if they are moving in a new direction through a team science approach.
- Successful research proposals will demonstrate a clear pursuit of external funding directly resulting from this application.
- Applicants will be advised to apply to other internal grant mechanisms if there are more topic-relevant funding opportunities available elsewhere on campus.
