UAB’s Office of University Relations works with UAB faculty, staff and students to develop and distribute university news and information in a variety of ways. It’s our job, and we’re happy to help.
What channels will be used to publicize my announcement or event?
We review requests and consider them for various distribution channels, such as:
• GreenMail, UAB’s student newsletter
Publishes each Wednesday during the academic year except for holiday periods, and every other Wednesday during the summer. The deadline for requests is 10 a.m. Tuesdays.
• The eReporter, UAB’s employee newsletter
Publishes Tuesday and Friday of each week. The deadline for submission is 10 a.m. Monday and Thursday for the following day's edition.
• UAB News and Reporter websites
• Social media channels, such as Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter.
Do I select the channels and frequency of publicity for my request?
Information is used at the discretion of the staff and is published at a time and with a frequency that best enables us to accommodate requests and produce timely, meaningful communication for our faculty, staff, and students. The more advance notice we have, the better able we are to promote your events and news.
How will I know if you are publicizing my event or announcement?
You will receive an email notification confirming the receipt of your request. You will also receive an email notification if your request has been approved or not approved for publication. If your request is approved, you will receive notification of the specific channels being considered for publication.
Will you edit or revise my submission?
University Relations uses many ways to reach out to varied audiences with the same story. To move it. Expand it. Keep it alive and make it relevant. The content and context may vary with the media and each instance may not appear in the manner requested, but you can be certain we use the information in the way we believe best advances UAB’s interests and its brand.
How do I submit a clinical trial?
