Standing Committees

Financial Oversight- The Financial Oversight Committee works to expand financial resources and contacts, pursue partnerships with local businesses and restaurants for student discounts, and reach out to local organizations and the UAB community to allow sponsorships for funding.

Rules Committee- The Rules Committee serves as a general oversight committee to report the internal actions of the USGA Senate to the public. They ensure that the USGA Senate, with its many different obligations across the Code of Laws and Constitution, stays adherent to its requirements.

Academic Affairs- The Academic Affairs Committee is committed to developing and improving the academic experience at UAB. This committee aims to voice student opinions regarding the multiple academic sectors and resources across campus.

Student Life- The Campus Life Committee functions to improve dining and transportation options, identify student concerns in residence halls, and provide campus resources (student space, student services, transportation, Disability Support Services, athletics) 

Caucuses

Causes are comprised of both Student and Non-Student Caucuses. Student Caucuses are comprised of Senate members from each school/college at UAB (Nursing, Public Health, Arts and Sciences, etc.) They report on actions going on within their respective domains, whether they be initiatives or ongoing relevant changes that will impact students within those domains. Active Non-Student Caucuses are developed at the discretion of the USGA Senate. The Non-Student Caucuses for the 2025-2026 year have been reported below.

Community Engagement- The Community Engagement Caucus works to enhance the interdisciplinary community of students at UAB through widespread initiatives that will enhance student experience. Ongoing initiatives include a partnership with the School of Education for a school supplies drive.

Greek Life- The Greek Life Caucus is meant to enhance the relationship between USGA and its treasured Greek Life partners. With a steady Greek Life community, it is imperative that the USGA is able to support this demographic to the fullest. 

Sustainability- Our campus color of Green has a deeper meaning than just going well with Gold. The Sustainability Caucus develops methods to increase UAB's overall "Green" and sustainable lifestyle. Previous initiatives of this Caucus have been to change the plastic straws on campus to agave.
