About the Program

Do you want to make a difference in saving our planet? An environmental engineering certificate can help you learn about the design of systems that improve air quality, recycling practices, and more. Simply put, the difference you make could have a huge impact.

But before you help save the world, you need to take Introduction to Environmental Engineering. It's the very first of 15 credit hours you'll need to earn this certificate. After that, you can choose from courses in environmental law, water treatment engineering, sediment sources and controls, stormwater pollution management, and much more. Best of all, you can use this certificate to boost your résumé or as the first step toward a master's degree. But remember, you must be admitted here as an undergraduate or graduate student, or a non-degree seeking student, to enter the program. In the end, you'll not only have your certificate, but you'll be able to apply up to 12 credit hours toward an MS in Civil Engineering here at UAB if you choose.
