Healthcare and technology are increasingly intertwined. As we capture and use more personal data to make healthcare decisions, providers and administrators will need a strong foundation in the processes and tools used to implement, maintain, and evaluate health informatics systems and applications.

Our coordinated degree program can prepare you for a thriving career in Health Informatics by combining the leadership skills you need as an administrator (including legal, financial, managerial and marketing training) with the technological skills that are in growing demand. You’ll also get real-world experience by working in the UAB Health System. And our cohort model ensures that you’ll be with the same classmates throughout your academic training, increasing your network and empowering strong relationships and outcomes.

Applied Learning

During your time in the MSHA Program, you will experience “real world” exposure from the start. Beginning in the first semester, you will work in the UAB Health System as part of the Student Workforce initiative. You may also complete an internship the first summer and after completing your classes, you will launch your career with the administrative residency.
