About the Program

Do you have an analytical mind and a love for architecture? Our certificate in structural engineering can enhance your understanding of modern design and help you further your engineering career.

To us, the best way to give you an edge in the job market is to design a program that's divided into three parts, so that's exactly what we've done. First is structural analysis. Here, you'll be choosing from electives such as Theory of Elasticity, Bridge Engineering, and Concrete Technology. You'll follow that up with structural design electives, such as Foundation Engineering or Design of Wood Structures. Finally, you'll choose from our listing of general electives. To graduate, you'll need to complete at least 15 credit hours, and you'll be able to apply up to 12 hours toward an MS in Civil Engineering here at UAB if you choose.
